NMC 是一種介于UPS和網絡的設備，它可以從UPS獲得狀態信息并且發出指令。NMC支持兩種協議－簡易網絡管理協議(SNMP)和超文件傳輸協議(HTTP)以供使用者進入。通過SNMP的網絡管理站(NMS)和網頁瀏覽器，用戶可以獲得UPS的狀態信息、發出指令至UPS并且通過網絡設定NMC。 NMC 也為不同的操作系統提供關機軟件。不同操作系統的關機軟件可以通過網絡連接至NMC，并且利用特殊的通信方式與NMC卡通訊。當UPS發生異常以及用戶設置的條件滿足時，NMC會發出關機消息至裝有關機軟件的客戶端。關機軟件根據自身的設定進行對應的關機的程序，從而避免因電力問題而造成客戶端和服務器的不正常關機。
